And when we got to the top we
were above the clouds that were blue and red across the setting sun and it was
colder then we thought it would be and it was later then we thought it would be
and we were tired and that’s what I remember and we were happy.
We rested soon after setting up the
tent, eating smashed sandwiches and drinking whiskey, trembling in our sleeping
bags while the wind blew outside and it sounded like the ocean’s waves. We
talked while feeling drunk and we were a little sick and it was cold. When we
fell asleep it was cold. And when we woke up it was cold and the sun was rising
and we hiked up to the summit. The clouds felt different from on top of the volcano
and we stood there watching them as they blew threw us and between us and we
waited for them to break apart, just for a second, so we could see one of the
two oceans that were on either side of us. We didn’t see anything but clouds.
And tall towers. And then we left.

Looks awesome... and cold. I'm on my way to Panama right now with Environmental Health
